Fictitious Addresses and previously used stamp

Envelope sent by Bray to Ernest Arnold on 26th November 1898.

Bray attempted to use a previously used stamp to pay for the postage, this was spotted by the Post Office and rejected with the message "defaced - old stamps" and a 2d. surcharge.

In addition to this unsuccessful deception, Bray wrote five versions of Arnold address, two of which were fictitious, one was somewhat brief, one was slightly misleading and one was correct.
