Address written in Latin
Sent by Bray to Walter Hughes with the address written in Latin on 29th October 1898
To help the postman, Bray included a translation of the elements of the address in a small panel at the bottom of the card.
Unlike the card sent to Ernest Arnold, this one had a "stamp" cut out from a pre-paid postcard affixed in place of a legitimate postage stamp. The Post Office declared this "Contrary to Regulations", drew five blue crayon crosses around the illegal stamp, slapped on two instructional marks and charged a penny for failing to pay the postage (double fee) and a halfpenny for returning the card to Bray undelivered.
The intended recipient was probably ther same Walter referred to by Bray in the message on the back of the pictorially addressed card sent to Arnold on 22nd June 1899.
