Thrown from Railway Carriage with a fictitious variant of Bray's return address

Small card thrown by Bray from a moving railway carriage as he was passing through a station either on his way to, or back from, Shelley. Bray requested that it to be returned to him at 155 Stanstead Road, Forest School.

Bray wrote the request for its return in verse hoping to appeal to the finder.

Found by Walter Merchant at Lexden (near Colchester) on 28th January 1899.

The envelope in which the card was returned indicates that the Post Office worked out that it needed to go to Forest Hill. It was redirected to Shelley, probably by Bray's mother, since he was staying there at the time.
