Postcard with photo used as part of address
Postcard sent by Bray to A Resident of (marked building) + photo of Lynmouth Harbour via Barnstaple on 1st October 1899.
This is the earliest recorded attempt of Bray's exploitation of the postal regulations that allowed for a thin photograph to be attached to a postcard, although it was not intended by the authorities that the photo should be used as part of the address. Accordingly a 1d. charge was imposed for being contrary to regulations and the card only reached Barnstaple, presumably because the Post Office failed (or chose) to recognise the actual destination.
