Pre-paid Maltese postal stationary

Sent by Bray to himself using Maltese postal stationary, which was not permitted in the UK, on 1st November 1899.

This was the pre-paid reply half of a reply card originally sent from Malta to London (as evidenced by the London arrival postmark) on the reverse.

The Post Office rejected the value of the pre-printed "stamp" and imposed a 1d surcharge.
