Postcard with photo used as part of address

Postcard sent by Bray to The Proprietor of + photo of Poosie Nansies Inn, nr Mauchline Station on 11th January 1900.

The card was successfully delivered to Mauchline, as evidenced by the postal markings, but was deemed contrary to regulations and thus attracted a 1d. charge.

The mauscript blue crayon NB was added by the Post Office to identify the destination as being in Northern Britain which was commonly used to represent Scotland on items of mail.
