Thrown into the sea inside a pickle bottle

Court sized picture postcard of the Bank of England cast into the sea by Bray on 21st July 1900.

The bottle was thrown into the water off the coast of Devonshire and found by Mr A Millbourn on 14th August near Totnes.

The staining would have been caused by the sea water leaking into the bottle.
